  2. Drug overdose deaths reached a staggering 100,000 this past year in the United States - illicit fentanyl accounted for 64% of those deaths; killing an estimated 175 Americans every single day. Since 2019, fentanyl deaths doubled and continue to rise across the country. Deaths caused by suicide, car accidents and gun homicide have remained relatively the same since 2015, while fentanyl deaths have risen significantly - surpassing each one in 2020.
